With new advances in technology everyday, it has become easier and easier to use the work of other people. Through technology, lesson Plans, pictures, articles, music, videos and more are accessible at the click of a button. But, as an Educator, what is acceptable to use?
Target Audience: Educators
Purpose: Professional Development opportunity on Acceptable usage of Copyrighted material.
Objective: To teach teachers how they can lawfully use material other than their own.
Description: Through a quick WebQuest, educators will learn the basics about using copyrighted material. First they will download and print the "Copyright and Fair Use Guidelines for Teachers" chart. This chart will be a resource that they can keep for future reference. The lesson will require the teachers to become familiar with the chart by doing a quick quiz.
Teaching Strategy: The teachers will be learning through exploration.
Assessment: The teachers will be using the chart to answer questions in an online quiz. They will have to recieve at least 85% on the quiz to show mastery of the information and then they can print their results.
Approximate Time: 30 minutes (more if optional links visited)
